PS ~ Are you going to Be the next Spotlight SWBC?
“Taking you from ordinary to Extraordinary!”
SWBC congrates Superwoman Janelle Mayhugh on achieving the Superwoman Spotlight Award. Janelle, a former competitive dancer, unfortunately threw her back out not too long ago. However, with perseverance and positive “Can’t Hold Me Down” attitude, she was able to rebound quickly and get back to SWBC.
Her fellow 6am campers nominated Janelle and this is what they had to say about her…
“Positive attitude, supports other campers, great sense of humor.” – Jeanine
“Strength of body, mind and heart.” – Kellie

“First of all, I would like to thank the girls that nominated me as the Superwoman Spotlight for the month. A big thank you!! Love you girls, you are all so awesome. Secondly, SWBC is the Best!! I absolutely love boot camp. It is so much better than going to the gym. I love the workout, support and that last push you give us. I look forward to going to SWBC and wish I could do it everyday. It really is a great way to start your day and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!” – Janelle Mayhugh

It’s that time of year again. You know…fireworks, drinks, family tradition of games and fun activities for the children and adults, a strong sense of nationalism from east to west, and lest we not forget the most important and delicious bit – the food.
July 4th is a time where families gather together and enjoy each others company around the BBQ in the backyards, or go to nearby parks and watch the spectacle of fireworks, all while enjoying delicious food.
Summer in general is a phase of relaxation, where the stress of school and projects are banished for a time and children and their parents have less worry to occupy their time. The extended days, and freedom in these days add extra time to chow on our favorite foods and by gosh do we take advantage of that.
Adults take on new diets and exercise regimes during the summer to combat the addition of free time in their days. This is where many face difficulty; by nature when humans want something they want it fast and the way that their minds have defined their desire.
A family friend told me recently about the bamboo plant, which is quite an extraordinary specimen. Well, the way a
bamboo plant functions is that after planting in the ground, you water the plant for a full year – being consistent of this goal of a shoot rising from the ground – and you see no results. The second year you continue with this goal and you see little results. Many people are discouraged by this point and would like to throw in the pot of water (or running shoes) and give up.
However, staying adamant in ones goal to raise bamboo, results in a massive and quick growth of the bamboo plant in the process. The result is finally here, and everyone is happy.
See where I’m trying to go here?
There are always going to be obstacles or discouragement present in whatever we put our minds to, however, we must remain strong and pursue. It’s been said that nothing worth having comes easy in life, and ain’t that the truth. So as we gather together with our families and loved on this coming weekend and celebrate national pride for this country call home, let us not feel strain from our pursuit of a healthier lifestyle and a fit body.
Always remember, keep watering your seeds and you will see them grow.
Have a Happy and Safe 4th!!

Superwomen Boot Camp has several mother and daughter campers. It’s such an inspiring sight to see mothers and daughters being accountable to each other in their goals to be fitter and healthier.
SWBC congratulates one of our mother-daughter teams, Superwomen Ambassadors Jeanine Anderson (mother) and Kellie McNair (daughter) on achieving the Superwomen Spotlight Award.
Jeanine comes all the way from Elk Grove to Folsom to workout with her daughter Kellie with her fellow 6am SWBC Campers.

“Superwomen Boot Camp allows us to stay healthy together. We appreciate SWBC’s remarkable ability to meet both of our fitness goals in the same workout. They push us to perform at a much higher level than we would working out alone and we, in turn, encourage each other. Superwomen Boot Camp has helped us become confident in working out even when we’re not at boot camp; through careful modeling and attention to proper form, they have taught us to put together fitness circuits with nothing more than our own body weight, an oversized rubber band and a kettle bell. We maintain our workout schedule even when we’re traveling. Most important, the supportive atmosphere and positive energy created by our fellow campers motivates us to show up, work hard, and have fun!
